Ravinder Singh, PhD
Dr. Ravinder Singh is currently the Director of the Endocrinology Laboratory and professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. One of his areas of expertise is application of liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) to clinical laboratory analysis. Many of the methods which he has developed are now considered reference methods, and have subsequently been utilized for method standardization efforts. As a result, the clinical diagnosis of Cushing’s disease, pheochromocytoma and congenital adrenal hyperplasia have been improved. He has published his work on originally developed methods including such analytes as cortisol, synthetic corticosteroids, metanephrines, estradiol, vitamin D, and urine albumin amongst others. Dr. Singh is also the Co-PI of 3 grants. He is Co-director of the ICL lab which supports the Human research protocols. He was recently granted a Novel methodology CTSA award for “Development of Robust LC-MS/MS Based Methods for the Absolute Quantification of Proteins and Peptides.” And he was recently awarded AACC Outstanding Speaker Award, as well as MSACL Leadership Award for Mass Spectometry Applications to the clinical lab. In 2000, he completed Clinical Chemistry fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. He is board-certified by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and has published more than 200 papers in the area of clinical diagnostics. He is a member of various professional societies, including AACC and the Endocrine Society. He has trained and mentored more than 30 clinical chemistry fellows. He has collaborated with large numbers of clinicians at the national and international levels. Dr. Singh has been member of AACC since 1998 and is actively involved in the society. He has served in multiple roles for the Midwest section, lipid section, endocrine, Mass spectrometry and Separations Science divisions and is now president elect of proteomics division.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Evaluate various methods for cortisol testing in serum, urine and saliva
- Novel methodologies for diagnosis of adrenal disorders
- Discuss impact of biotin in endocrine testing
MAINTENANCE OF CERTIFICATION
Successful completion of this CME activity enables the participant to earn up to 1 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC points.
Your participation information will be shared with the ACCME, which will in turn report your points to ABIM. Successful completion of a course examination is required to earn ABIM MOC points.
