R. Harrell, MD, FACP, ECNU, FACE
Dr. R. Mack Harrell has built the last 27 years of his life around sound. In 1992, he became the first endocrinologist in the Cleveland Clinic system to bring neck ultrasound technology into the endocrine office setting. In 2011, he and his surgical partner, Dr. David Bimston established the first hospital-based integrative endocrine surgery office in the United States- bringing imaging endocrinologists and endocrine surgeons together with high resolution realtime ultrasound equipment and on site cytology capability to create a full service thyroidology, parathyroidolgy and adrenal practice serving Florida and the Caribbean. SInce 2005, Drs. Harrell and Bimston have published multiple peer-reviewed papers together regarding the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid nodular disease and hyperparathyroidism. Dr. Harrell has served as the president of AACE in 2014-2015 and the president of the American College of Endocrinology from 2017-2018. When not practicing thyroidology, Dr. Harrell enjoys working with sound in the range of human hearing and is an award winning member of the Nashville Songwriter's Association International (NSAI) in search of his first Country radio hit. Over the years he has been blessed to perform at AACE events with his bandmates Dr. Tim Bailey and Dr. Kathleen Figaro in the band "Sugar."
